A DAY OF UNITY AND INDEPENDENCE AT THE ARMENIAN EMBASSY The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia hosted a community reception on October 1, celebrating independence and national unity. The guest of honor of the event was the speaker of the Nagorno Karabakh parliament, Mr. Ashot Ghoulian, accompanied by deputy head of Foreign Affairs Committee at the Nagorno Karabakh Parliament, Mr. Sergey Ghazarian. During his remarks Ambassador Markarian welcomed the Speaker and the delegation at the Armenian Embassy and stressed the importance of visits of elected representatives of Nagorno Karabakh to Washington, and meetings and discussions with the executive and legislative branches of the United States government, with the members of the Armenian Community. In his remarks to the community members gathered at the Embassy, Speaker Ghoulian presented the progress that has been made in Nagorno Karabakh in the past 19 years and the plans for the future.
DIPLOMATIC RECEPTION ON THE 19TH ANNIVERSARY OF ARMENIA’S INDEPENDENCE On September 30, 2010 the Embassy of Armenia hosted a diplomatic reception to celebrate the 19th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia in Washington, DC. The guests included many Ambassadors, high-ranking diplomats, officials from the US State Department and the White House, representatives of different US Departments, such as Defense, Energy, Treasury, Commerce, Agriculture, USAID, Millennium Challenge Corporation, the World Bank, IMF, different think tanks, the media, as well as heads of Armenian-American organizations. More than 200 guests joined the Ambassador to congratulate our nation and to share the joy of this glorious day.
