Embassy of Armenia Celebrates Independence Day in Washington, D.C.

On September 20, 2007, the Embassy of Armenia hosted the traditional diplomatic reception to celebrate the sixteenth anniversary of Armenia’s Independence Day in Washington, D.C. More than 200 U.S. government officials, including high-ranking officials from the State Department, the Pentagon, Department of Energy, USAID, foreign Ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats, U.S. and foreign military officers, and representatives of the World Bank and the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Washington-based think tanks and private organizations, as well as the clergymen and representatives of the Armenian-American political organizations came to celebrate Armenia’s National Day.

In his remarks at the reception, Ambassador Tatoul Markarian noted Armenia’s political and economic progress since independence, dynamic nature of U.S.-Armenian cooperation, and the importance of Armenia-Diaspora relations.
