Armenian Independence Day Celebrated in Washington, D.C.

The fourteenth anniversary of Armenia's Independence Day was celebrated in Washington, D.C. with a traditional reception held at the Embassy on September 21, 2005. More than 150 U.S. government officials, foreign Ambassadors and high-rank diplomats, U.S. and foreign military officers and Embassy's counterparts from Washington-based think tanks and private organizations came to celebrate Armenia 's National Day. Also present were representatives of the Armenian-American political organizations.

Armenia 's burgeoning cooperation with the United States in all areas was underscored by the presence of many officials from different U.S. departments and agencies. In his remarks at the reception, Ambassador Tatoul Markarian highlighted the main achievements of Armenia's independence and stressed the importance of ongoing democratic and economic progress.
