Embassy of Armenia Hosts Armenian-American Health Professionals

On December 16, 2006, the Embassy of Armenia hosted members of the the Armenian-American Health Association of Greater Washington. The organization, founded in 1991 with the objectives of promoting health and medicine in Armenia, has transferred medicine, medical supplies, and other vital assistance to the Central Military Hospital of Yerevan, children’s clinics, and mobile health units in Martuni and Hadrut districts of Artsakh, and other recipients in Armenia and Artsakh.

Association’s President, Dr. Grigor Khachikian, and other members of the Executive Committee presented the annual report to the members. A photo exhibition by the Naregatsi Art Institute, opened at the Embassy recently, presented the Association’s medical outreach activities in Artsakh, photographed by the Institute’s local partners.

Welcoming the members of the Association, Ambassador Markarian stressed the importance of further enhancing collaboration between the Armenian health professionals in the Diaspora and the Homeland, and expressed appreciation for the continuing assistance by the Armenian-American doctors to Armenia and Artsakh.
