The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia hosted a community reception on October 1, celebrating independence and national unity. The guest of honor of the event was the speaker of the Nagorno Karabakh parliament, Mr. Ashot Ghoulian, accompanied by deputy head of Foreign Affairs Committee at the Nagorno Karabakh Parliament, Mr. Sergey Ghazarian.

During his remarks Ambassador Markarian welcomed the Speaker and the delegation at the Armenian Embassy and stressed the importance of visits of elected representatives of Nagorno Karabakh to Washington, and meetings and discussions with the executive and legislative branches of the United States government, with the members of the Armenian Community.

In his remarks to the community members gathered at the Embassy, Speaker Ghoulian presented the progress that has been made in Nagorno Karabakh in the past 19 years and the plans for the future.
