U.S.-Armenia Security Dialogue

On September 9-10, 2002, an Armenian interagency delegation visited Washington, DC to participate in regular discussions on security issues between the governments of the United States and the Republic of Armenia. The Armenian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tatul Markarian, and was comprised of officials from the Foreign, Defense, and National Security Ministries, as well as Ambassador Arman Kirakossian and Armenian Embassy officers.

During the security dialogue, U.S. and Armenian government representatives discussed the international campaign against terrorism and the perspectives for U.S.-Armenian military cooperation, and addressed issues related to regional cooperation and security in South Caucasus, peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, demining, non-proliferation, and bilateral cooperation in export control.
