Jewellery & Diamond Processing

Armenia is rich with semiprecious and ornamental stones, such as agate, jasper, amethyst, serdoliks, turquoise, and different types of marble onyx. Despite the variety of precious stones, this area has been underexplored and has not been fully exploited as a mineral resource. Armenia may potentially become a commercial precious stone exporter.

Armenian Jewelers' Association
During 1998, following a worldwide gathering of Armenian jewelers in Basel (Switzerland), the Armenian Jewelers' Association (AJA) was founded - one of the country's first international trade and investment associations. The AJA's aim is to bring Armenian jewelers together to develop the country's jewellery industry. The AJA is now participating in trade fairs at international centers, and is currently setting up its own trade center in Yerevan. It has a website at www.aja.am.
