Presently, the availability of production space, equipment, infrastructure and specialists, skilled in the operation of hitech equipment and electronics, present good partnership and investment opportunities. Electronic firms have the capacity for production of electronic chips and printed circuit boards and assembly of televisions, VCRs, computers and computer accessories, and consumer or industrial electrical and electronic goods, all of which have high export potential.
The electronics industry saw considerable work carried out by several bestequipped enterprises in Armenia. Accordingly, for many years, Armenian educational institutions and laboratories produced a large number of specialists, highly qualified in electronics, for both hardware and software development.
HISTORY
The intensive development of this industry began after the Second World War,
with the establishment of the USSR profile research institutes' branches in
Armenia. During the Soviet period, Armenia was first in the Caucasian Region
and third in the USSR (after Russia and Ukraine) by its share in the volume
of electronics gross product. The intellect of qualified labor potential in
Armenia was taken into account that proved its fruitfulness after a short period
when the developed models of electronics equipment won prizes and medals in
international exhibitions and trade-fairs.
